Is the main character the reader see's through the thoughts of--he is also the one to unlock the mysteries withheld in Verglas Manor and finally put an end to the terrors transgressed inside the mansion for decades. Becoming the very pinpoint target of one of Isis's Van Der Chill's "favored husbands," Darkwing must figure out how to get away from the deranged woman's clutches, as well as helping the other captives under her authority.
Motive
Although his motives does change throughout the story, Drake originally just wanted his best friend Launchpad back. After taking on three lonely years of people within the McDuck Manor going missing without a trace, Launchpad decides to take things into his own hands and set off to find them; he goes missing himself. Feeling the guilt of never being able to find these victims that mattered dearly to Launchpad, Drake sets it upon himself to find out just what had happened to the missing case victims all those years ago.
However, when he finally locates Verglas Manor--where he hypothesized the supposed victims had gone--he founds all of the people that had went missing three years ago, including Launchpad himself. However, the only person missing from that group is Scrooge McDuck. Drake then finds the urge to pinpoint where Scrooge was and why Launchpad refused to come back home with him.
Nearing the end of the story, Drake finally solves every conflict he has by being thrown into the conflict himself; his only desire at that point is a strong will of survival and to protect the others, whom he made relationships with while spending his time at Verglas Manor.

Hero-Sidekick
Role
Launchpad is mainly why the story propels forward in the beginning, after his disappearance it encourages Drake to take on the cold cases again to find him. However, when Drake and Gosalyn reach the mansion, the pilot ushers them passively to just go back home without giving a reason why they should. Launchpad has already learned the secrets in the mansion, and who Isis really is; he merely wishes that Drake and Gosalyn don't end up in the same messed up situation that he and the others are in. Throughout the rest of the story however, he is completely dedicated and loyal to saving his friends and getting out of the mansion. Launchpad also becomes a significant symbol for his dedication to his family, doing everything in his way to make sure they are cared for; something that Darkwing does not learn right away.
Motive
The main motives for Launchpad is protecting those he cares for is due to trying to fight with survival, and just in general loving his family and being willing to do what it takes.
Hero-Sidekick
Role
Fenton's main role in the story is to generally teach the reader some ways of how to deal with suffering; questioning sanity, handling depression, moving on from losses, and learning to forgive someone. Many of these sprouted due to the actions taken in the story, such was when Scrooge was losing his mind over losing his nephews. Fenton had to learn how to keep somebody like that stable as well as making sure himself was okay. Fenton also has many problems with losses, such as when Scrooge was frozen to ice, or when he was separated from ever seeing his mother or Gandra again. Fenton also for most of the story holds many grudges against Morgana for her aid in helping the suffering in Scrooge leading up to when he was frozen. He is supposed to help the reader question their own choices in life, and analyze when grudges really should be held.
Motive
Fenton only wishes to see the people he's lost, still feeling as though he's anchored to his mistakes somehow. However, he learns that before pointing the blame at someone else for his pain--like Morgana--he really should be looking at his own life and the things he contributed into leading him to this point in time. He needs to learn that not all situations are meant for pointing the finger at someone, and that sometimes it's also his own fault for the problems he faces.
Hero-Reformed
Role
Symbol of sacrafices made in order to protect family, and how you may be outcasted harshly for your herioc actions.
Morgana is mainly a symbol of sacrifice, and who's values can also be connected to Launchpad's. By giving up her life to servitude to Isis in order to protect her father, Morgana has made grand sacrifices to those she cares for. She represents the sometimes difficult situations someone has to make in order to meet Launchpad's value of protecting your family. But also by doing these actions, you may sometimes become an outcast or abused for it. This becomes the case with Fenton, who still points Morgana at fault for what happened to Scrooge. Morgana brings up the question on whether or not it's the mistakes the make up a person's character, or if it's the good they do such as protecting her father at the cost of someone else.
Motive
Near the beginning of the story and even before the story took place in it's time setting, everything Morgana did was to make sure that Isis didn't lay a hand on her father. It is the only reason why she even works for Isis in the first place, which illustrates her as one of Isis's most loyal servants. However, after establishing relationships with Drake and Gosalyn, Morgana learns that not everything has to be black and white--she could figure out other ways in protecting her father all the while defeating Isis.
Hero-Sidekick
Role
Gosalyn becomes a symbol of persistence, even in her most stubborn scenes. She refuses to give up on anything, and this shows even in the beginning in the story when she keeps pestering her father to get back onto those cold cases. This trait especially shows once Drake gets placed under the Obedience Frost--she becomes cold and rebellious to everyone around her, and constantly fights back with Isis when no one else dared to challenge her. Gosalyn can also point out the blunt truth in somebody, such as if they were only doing a certain action for themselves and why they were doing it. Most of the characters however usually like to deny this, but Gosalyn still makes a point about not only the characters but people in the real world.
Motive
Gosalyn never backs down in a situation in fear of being defeated or seeing her loved ones being cornered. She also likes to state the facts of something, in hopes of helping the person seeing the error in their ways, even if they constantly deny it.
